      Funeral service for Alvin G. Gies, 31 Hugo Cres., who died at St. Mary's Hospital Tuesday, will be held at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Friday at 3 p.m.

      Rev. A.J. Baetz will officiate.

      Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery, Waterloo. Donations to the Ontario Heart Foundation or the building fund of the church may be made as expressions of sympathy.

      Mr. Gies was born in Macton; a son of Mrs. Emma Gies of Kitchener and the late Charles W. Gies, who died in 1963.
      He is also survived by his wife, the former Anne Padkova; two sons, Douglas of Kitchener, Robert, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Stewart (Carol) Rank, Milverton; Sandra at home; three brothers, Harold, St. Jacobs; Wilbert, London, Ont., and Laval of Doon, and three grandchildren.

      The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until noon Friday when removal will be made to the church.
