Notes |
- Miss Barbara Campbell Henderson of Reidsville One of Them
A very tragic phase of the prevailing Spanish Influenza epidemic occurred in Brantford General Hospital on Friday when two nurses who were room-mates succumbed to the disease within half an hour of each other. One of these was Miss Barbara Campbell Henderson, daughter of the late John Henderson of Reidsville, who had been in training as a nurse for 13 months, and was run down through overwork on "Flu" cases. She was born at Reidsville 31 years ago. She was ill only about a week, death ensuring from pneumonia, following a severe attack of influenza. Her death has cast a gloom over the entire community, where she was well-known and highly esteemed. The deceased is survived by six sisters and two brothers. They are Misses Kate and Tessie and Mr. James Henderson on the homestead; near Reidsville; Mrs. W. J. Simpson, Washington; Miss Beatrice, Galt, and two sisters and a brother in the West. The funeral took place on Sunday to the Ayr cemetery, the service being conducted by the Rev. Mr. Fraser of Galt.
