  By death, during the last weeks the neighbourhood of Ayr has lost two of its oldest and most respected citizens. On Friday morning, Mr Hugh McCartney, so long and favorably known, departed this life, aged 88 years. Deceased was a native of Ayrshire, Scotland, and came to the farm on which he died in the year 1852. He was a man of upright, christian character, and was universally respected. His family consists of two sons and four daughters, one of the latter being the wife of Mr Hugh McCulloch, of Galt.
