  Lavina Irene Schmidt of Ayr, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at Brantford General Hospi-tal. She was in her 75th year. Born in Beachville, the daughter of Charles and Alberta McCombs. She was a member of Christ Church, Ayr. Survived by her loving husband of 53 years James and her eight children, Paul and his wife Nancy of Ayr, Kathleen Meggs of Waterloo, Elaine and her husband Rick Yellen of Corpus Christi, Texas, Irene Cain, George and his wife Janet, Ann and her husband Steve Brunton, Michael and his wife Merry, Heidi and her husband Derrick Ostner all of Ayr; her grandchildren Robert, Thom, Sarah, Nicole, Kymn, Bekki, Sharleen, Jacquelyn, Elisabeth, Hillary, Patrick, Matthew, Jessica, Ian, Alex, Andrea, Calvin and Konrad. Also survived by her sister Janet and her husband Earl Evans of Woodstock, brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Margaret Schmidt of Chancellor, Alberta and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Bob McCombs; her great-grandchildren Lee-anne and James and by son-in-law Dennis Meggs. Friends were received at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Ayr on Thursday. A private family funeral service was held at Christ Church, Ayr on Fri-day, Rev. France Ouimet-Wilson officiated. Interment in Ayr Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Schmidt, George Schmidt, Michael Schmidt, Robert Schmidt, Patrick Schmidt and Ian Brunton. Flower bearer was Calvin Ostner. The Ayr News Sep 1 2004 pg 12
