Notes |
- Mrs. A. E. Mathison
The sudden death occurred in Galt Hospital on Sunday night of Nellie Mae Thompson, wife of Arch. E. Mathison, Greenfield, in her 37th year. Deceased was born in Campbellford, and came here from Toronto with her husband and family three years ago. She was a member of the Ayr Presbyterian Church, and was highly esteemed by many friends and neighbors. Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons and an infant daughter, as follows: William, aged 11 years; Donald, aged 8 years, and Barbara Jeanne, aged 2 weeks; all of whom will have the sincere sympathy of the whole community in their great loss. The funeral took place to the Ayr Cemetery yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon and was largely attended by sorrowing friends and relatives. The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful. As a mark of respect, the local plant of the Hecker-H-O Company of Canada, Limited, where Mr. Mathison is employed as chief engineer, was closed for the duration of the funeral. The services were conducted by Rev. W. Patterson Hall, pastor of Knox's Presbyterian Church, Galt, and the pallbearers were: Edward Clark, Edward Fretz, Harvey Baetz, David Williams, J. E. Chillman and Wellington Nickerson.
