Kahler departed this life in Preston this morning at five o'clock, at the ripe old age of 81 years; she had been failing for some time. Her husband, Rev. H. C. Kahler, who survives her, is also an octogenarian. He was for many years one of the leading Lutheran clergymen of Canada, founder of the Synod of Canada, and for some time president of that body. At the age of 70 years he retired from the active ministry and removed with his wife, the now deceased lady, to Preston, where they have since lived. The funeral will take place in Preston on Tuesday afternoon, May 2nd, at two o'clock. Rev. R. von Pirch of St. Peter's Church, Berlin, has been requested to conduct the funeral service.
