      Of 318 Church St. South, Preston Cambridge, at the South Waterloo Memorial Hospital, Wednesday, Jan. 16. 1974. E. Russell MacLeod, beloved husband of Mary Goulding and dear father of Donald G. of Galt, John R. of London, D. Andrew of Waterloo, Marjorie (Mrs. L. T. Oldfield ) and Molly (Mrs. Robert Ridsdale) of Galt; also survived by 22 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. A. D. Downes of Montreal; in his 76th year. Resting at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, Cambridge (Preston). Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

      Russell McLeod to be buried Friday

      CAMBRIDGE, Funeral service will be held in Preston, Friday for E. Russell MacLeod, the former Preston alderman and secretary of the Waterloo-Wellington Airport Commission, who died Wednesday, at South Waterloo Hospital. He was 75. Mr. MacLeod, who lived at 318 Church St. S. (Preston), was made an honorary life member of the airport commission, in December, for serving as Preston's representative from 1946 to 1957 and as secretary-treasurer from 1957 to 1973. An alderman for nine years, beginning in 1946, Mr. MacLeod was Preston deputy-reeve in 1968 and 1969. He had served as a member of the Grand River Conservation Authority and its predecessor, the Grand River Conservation Commission. Mr. MacLeod was a member of the Preston parks board, from 1964 to 1972 and of the town's industry department, from 1967 to 1970. He began working for CP Rail, in Toronto and was transferred to CP Electric Lines, Preston, in 1929, retiring in 1964, after 44 years of service. Mr. MacLeod was a veteran of the First World War, serving overseas with the Royal Canadian Artillery. In the Second World War he was supervisor of the Royal Canadian Legion overseas forces. For his efforts, he was awarded the MBE. A long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Preston Branch 126, Mr. MacLeod was awarded the Legion's meritorious service medal in December. Surviving are his wife, three sons, two daughters and one sister.
