Notes |
- Ernest G. Hall
PRESTON, March 5. Ernest George Hall, popularly known and highly respected resident of Preston, for more than 50 years, died suddenly of a heart attack, at his home, 157 King St. Thursday night at the age of 74. Mr. Hall had been active in his duties and responsibilities until the past three days. He was a member of St. Clement's R.C. Church and of the Holy Name Society. Born in Guelph, he came to Preston, as a young man. For the past 45 years he was engaged in his professional duties as a physio-therapist, learning his profession at Battle Creek, Mich. During 45 years in this business he treated countless persons, many coming from other countries for the services. Identified with the former Del Monte for some years, he operated a private practice until Preston Springs Clinic opened, being in charge of this department during its period of operation. Since the reopening of the clinic and baths at the Hotel Kress in 1945, he has been in charge of these responsibilities, having been active in physio-therapy work at the hotel for many years. Keenly interested in sport, particularly in his younger years, Mr. Hall was trainer for many baseball and hockey clubs, in Preston, and continued active in later years, providing free service to athletes and sporting clubs. An engaging personality won him a large circle of sincere friends. Surviving are his widow, Victoria Ebert; five daughters, Miss. E. M. Hurlbut, at home, Mrs. M. Greer and Mrs. R. Davison of Toronto; Mrs. G. Freeman, Vancouver and Miss Juanita Hall, nurse-in-training, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener; two sons, Ernest T. Hall, Galt and Percy J. Hall, at home; three sisters, Mrs. George Bennett, Charlotte, Mich.; Miss Maude Hall and Miss Carolina Hall of Toronto and nine grandchildren. The body is resting at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home, where the funeral will be held with requiem high mass at St. Clement's RC Church, Monday, at 9 a.m. Interment will be in the R.C. Cemetery, Preston.
