  • Notes
    • George married first Margaret Brennan, daughter of Patrick Brennan and Mary Ann Jordan. They were married by 1855. On 1861 census they lived in Glenelg, Grey Co., Ontario (across the road dividing Glenelg from Holland Twp. I have a map at www.brennan-families.com/dornoch.jpg. They're to the righ of the midpoint (the village of Dornoch). Margaret's parents are north and west of them.

      Children of George and Margaret:
Sarah, born 1856 in Glenelg. I've only found her on the 1861 census.
      Mary Ann, born 1857 ". "
Catherine M, born Apr 1861. Married John F. Black 1886 and emigrated to Michigan. She died 22 Oct 1944 in Newton Twp, Mackinac, Michigan
Patrick J, born 7 Apr 1864 in Glenelg. Emigrated to Michigan where he married first Mary Carmody and had 8 children, then later married Eleanor May Terrian (no children). Died 1937 in Masonville Twp, Delta Co, Michigan, buried at Rapid River Cemetery in family plot.
Margaret, born 1866. She's on the 1871 census living with her aunt, Catherine Brennan Craig, and in 1881 living with her maternal grandparents. I've not found her after that.
Joseph, born 1868. He's living with Mrs. Craig in 71 and with the Kerlay family in 81. Haven't found him after that.
Thomas, born 1869. Living with his maternal grandparents in 71 and 81.

Margaret Brennan Kohler died 20 May 1870 in Glenelg and is buried at St. Paul's RC Church Cemetery.

George emigrated to the US not long after her death. I don't know if the older girls went with him or to his family, as I can't find them.

George married twice more, first to Julia Heraley. They had one son, Alexander, born 25 Aug 1882, died 01 Feb 1902, both in Casco, Wisconsin. Julie died sometime between 1880 and 1890.

George next married Pauline Stupfel, born Nov 1871 in Wisconsin. They had 3 children: Frank A, born Feb 1872, Laura K, born Jan 1894, and Mary Ida, born Nov 1896, all in Marinette, Wisconsin.

George died in Pembine, Wisconsin on 24 Mar 1904, but I haven't found where he's buried.

His youngest son, Frank A, died 1850 and seems to be buried at his older brother Joseph P's family plot in Rapid River.
