    • Sudden Death of Mr. Francis Shiel - We very much regret to announce the death of Mr. Francis Shiel, of North Dumfries, which took place at his brother-s residence at Brussels, on Thursday night last. The death was very sudden. From his friends we gather that he left his residence in North Dumfries, on Thursday morning, in the best seeming health and spirits, and arrived at his brother's residence, Mr. John W. Shiel, in Brussels about 7 o'clock in the evening. His brother was not at home when he got there, but the housekeeper made everything comfortable for him, and certainly saw nothing in his manner to indicate that he was not in the best of health. About 11 o'clock he retired to bed and nothing further was heard from him. In the morning, when the occupants of the house got breakfast ready, some surprise was expressed that nothing had been heard from Mr. Shiel, and after a time his door was knocked at and no reply being elicited, the door was opened, and on the bed being approached it was seen that Mr. Shiel was dead, apparently having been so for some time, although the body was still quite warm. Medical assistance was at once procured, but only to prove perfectly unavailing, death having taken place from it is supposed, heart disease. Telegraphs to his relatives in North Dumfries were immediately sent and on Saturday morning the body was brought by train to Galt, and removed to his late residence in North Dumfries. The funeral took place on Monday, and was one of the largest we have almost ever seen The death of this young man has cast quite a gloom over this section. Well and widely known, he was universally respected and held in high esteem. As a son, as a parent, his life was most exemplary, and his relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in their terrible affliction.
