  Fries, Gordon Robert - Gordon Robert (Bob) Fries, passed away, following a brief illness, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Thursday, June 26, 1997, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 65 years. Beloved husband of Marilyn Mae Fries (nee Johnston) for 45 years. Loving father of Douglas and Cheryl, Dennis and Angie, David and Leta, Darrel and Cathy and Christine and Rob. Proud grandfather of Robert and Susanna, James, Renee, Charles, Melissa, Rachael, Candice, Jacob, Jeremy, Joshua, Jason, Chantal, Jason and Lindsay; great-grandfather of Courtney. Also missed by Bob, Jean and Angel Braun. Survived by six brothers, Murray, Wilbert (Shirley), Earl (Jackie), Ross (Carla), Doug (Shirley) and Gary (Lorraine) as well as three sisters, Elaine and her husband Bud Geffros, Phyllis and her husband Arlie Geiger, Joyce and her husband Ron Hutchings and sister-in-law Shirley Fries. Also survived by his mother-in-law, Hilda Johnston and two brothers-in-law, Glenn and his wife Jackie, and Larry and his wife June. Predeceased by his parents, Fred and Margaret Fries; one brother, Harold and sister-in-law, May Fries; father-in-law, Roy Johnston and sister-in-law, Elaine Haskins. Born in Kitchener on April 1, 1932, Bob was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, waterloo. He was a retired longtime employee of Koch Transport in Cambridge and was also an active member of Bridgeport Rod and Gun Club. Relatives and friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service in the chapel on Monday, June 30, 1997 at 1 pm. Interment at Parkview Cemetery in Waterloo. Reception to follow in the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre.
