- Philip Deekon
GALT - Philip Deekon, 276 Main St., died Sunday at South Waterloo Hospital, here. He was 68. Mr. Deekon was born in Galt and had resided here all his life. He was employed as machinist at Canadian Brass Co., for a number of years and had lived retired since the beginning of this year. He was a member of Trinity Anglican Church and president of the church's young men's club. He was recording secretary of the union at Canadian Brass Co., was an executive of the industrial bowling league many years, also on executive of Galt Terriers and a member of the Hornets 100 Club. He was very active in coaching many championship teams. He was past noble grand of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Waterloo lodge No. 107, Galt encampment No. 62. Surviving are his wife, the former Elsie Renwick; one son, Ralph of Galt; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Shirley) Mitchell of Regina, Sask.; one brother, Harry of Cochrane, Ont.; six grandchildren. The body is at the Coutt's and Son Funeral Home until Wednesday at 1 p.m., when it will be moved to Trinity Anglican Church for funeral service at 2: 30 p.m. Interment will be in Mountview cemetery, Galt.
