  Arthur Gardener PRESTON - Arthur Gardener, 778 Walter St., died today at South Waterloo Hospital, Galt. He was 83. Mr. Gardener was born in Lancaster, England. He came to Canada 68 years ago and to Preston in 1912. He retired from the Grand River Railway in 1948. He was a member of St. John's Anglican Church, a veteran of the First World War and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Surviving are his wife, the former Hilda Garrett; one daughter, Mrs. Sheila Richard of Galt and one sister, Mrs. Milton Pfeiffer of Preston, and two grandchildren. The body is at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends, Tuesday, afternoon and evening. The funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home, Wednesday, at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Preston, Park Lawn cemetery. Kitchener-Waterloo Record 19 Apr 1971 pg 26
