- MALANYCH, Michael Paul
Passed away peacefully, at St. Andrews Residence, on July 6, 2014, at the age of 89. Born in Nyrkiv, Ukraine, he came to Canada with his wife Antonia in 1948. They farmed in Waterford, until they moved to Cambridge, in 1955. Mike worked for various companies including Werlich Industries, Budd Automotive and retired from Canada Tool & Die in 1989. He loved animals, treated them kindly and his pets returned his love with devotion. He was a member of St Mary's Ukranian Catholic Church. He is survived by: son Michael (Heather) of Cambridge; son Terry (Beth) of Cambridge, daughter Anne Leslie (Edward) of Burtts Corner, N.B. Grandchildren Nikolas Leslie (Melissa) of Burtts Corner, N.B., Lorissa Leslie of Toronto; Erin Malanych Manuel (Berton) of Hamilton; Tyler Malanych and Matthew Malanych of Cambridge; great grandson Myles Manuel of Hamilton and niece Mary Malanych of Fredericton, N.B. Michael was predeceased by his wife Antonia, in 2005, brother William in 1997 and brother Paul in the Ukraine. Visitation will be held at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd, Cambridge, on Thursday, July 10, from 7-9 and Friday, July 11, from 2-4 and 7-9. Fr. Myroslaw Tataryn will be reciting prayers on Friday, at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, July 12, at 11: 30 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Cemetery in Cambridge. The family would like to thank all the staff at St Andrews Residence, who took such good care of Michael, for the past 9 years.
