    • GALT, June 23. - Lance-Corporal Henry Lanning, a veteran of the first contingent, was killed in action on June 13, according to a message received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Lanning, Barrie street, this morning. The deceased soldier was among the first Galtonians to join. Just a year ago this month his name appeared twice in the casualty lists, June 1, 1915, as suffering from concussion, and June 2 as having received a leg wound. Deceased was 32 years of age. He was a member of the S.O.E. and very well known in the city. He had soldiered in England with the garrison artillery, lancers, and the A.M.C. Only on Tuesday, his mother received a letter, in which he referred to how he was looking forward to the end of the war He was single and besides his parents is survived by five brothers and three sisters.
