- Goshen Methodist Church
Thomas Demorest, a Methodist minister in a letter to the Christian Guardian in 1861, describes the growth and zeal of the Wesleyan Methodist church in the "Peel Circuit " which comprised an area of approximately twelve miles square. "Church building was astounding", he said. Prior to 1860, two had been built in the circuit and in 1860, three more were built, one of
which would be known as Goshen. It was a framed 26' x 36' building. The minister of the circuit at this time was the Rev. Samuel Fear. (Thomas Demorest had preceded him), and he is given great praise for his work on the circuit. The generosity and faith of the people is notable, when we consider only a slight debt remained when a church building is completed, although most of the contributors were still living in their log houses.
