    • SUDDEN DEATH F. S. HODGINS

General Manager of Cluett, Peabody Co. Seized with Fatal Heart Attack.

PROMINENT IN BUSINESS AND SOCIAL LIFE

One of the Twin-City's prominent business men, in the person of Mr. Frank S. Hodgins, general manager and vice-president of the Cluett-Peabody Company, passed away at eleven o'clock on Tuesday evening. He had been in his usual health, and attended a meeting of the company staff and officials in the afternoon. Following dinner he was seized with a heart attack. Dr. J. M. Livingston gave first aid and ordered Mr. Hodgins removed to his home at 156 John Boulevard, Waterloo, where he passed away later in the evening. Mr. Hodgins, who entered the employ of the Williams Greene & Rome shirt and collar manufacturers. When a young man, advanced steadily and when the company was acquired by the Cluett-Peabody Co., many years ago, continued to direct the affairs of the company as manager and vice-president. Besides holding this important and prominent position in the industrial and manufacturing field, he was identified with various organizations in the community interests. The deceased was born in Stratford on Feb. 10, 1884. He subsequently resided here and attended the local schools, graduating from the Collegiate Institute.
      34 Years With Company
Upon his graduation from the Collegiate in 1900 he started as an office boy with the W. G. and R. Company, former owners of the Cluett Peabody enterprise. Through hard work and application he rose step by step and contributed a large part in building up what is today one of Kitchener's larger industries. For many years he was the right hand man of the late S. J. Williams, president of the W. G. & R. company, in the business which today extends from coast to coast. When the W. G. and R. company was sold to the Cluett interests in the United States, Mr. Hodgins was moved to headquarters at Troy, N.Y., where he filled an important executive position. However, in 1926, he was transferred back to Kitchener where he has since been the vice-president and managing director of the company in which he played such a big part in bringing to its present proportions. Former, Rotarian
Mr. Hodgins was a member of the Young Men's Club, of Grand River Lodge, Masonic Order and St. John's Anglican church. He was from time to time identified with other enterprises in the community interests, and was a former member of the K.-W. Rotary Club. As a youth he was active in athletics and still retained appreciation of clean sports. He is survived by his wife, formerly Florence Snyder, and two sisters, Mrs. Walter H. Williams, Toronto and Miss Gertrude Hodgins, Windsor. The funeral will be held at three o'clock, Friday afternoon, from the residence to Woodland Cemetery mausoleum for entombment. The remains will be at the Schreiter Funeral Home until nine o'clock, Friday morning. Rev. H. M. Lang-Ford, rector of St. John's Anglican Church, will have charge of the services.
