    • WHITE, Sister Leon SSND (Magdalene) - A School Sister of Notre Dame, died at Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown, Ontario, on November 2, 2001, in the 68th year of her religious profession. She is predeceased by her parents, Leon White of Kitchener, Ont. and Mary (nee Schneider) of Alsace Lorraine, as well as her one brother and six sisters. Left to mourn is her brother-in-law, Jack Read of Ayr, Ont., as well as many loving and devoted nieces and nephews. Sister's teaching career spanned every level from elementary to university. She began with elementary experience in Cambridge (Preston), moved to secondary in Welland and Waterdown where she also served as principal and finished at the university level at St. Jerome's College, Waterloo. Upon retirement in 1980 Sister was asked to assume community leadership in the Motherhouse, Waterdown. When this term of office was completed Sister moved to Peckham-Rye, England where she became involved in pastoral ministry as well as taking on the responsibilities of homemaker. When she returned to Canada in 1985 Sister served as visitor to the sick, elderly and infirm, both in Kitchener and St. Catharines, Ontario. Failing health caused her retirement to the Villa in Waterdown in 1986. Here she lived out her life in prayerful suffering and sacrifice. Visitation on Sunday, Nov. 4 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Notre Dame Convent, 1921 Snake Rd., Waterdown, Ont. Wake service on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 3 pm. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, Nov. 5, 2001 at 10: 30 am at the Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown, Ont.
