- MITCHELL, John Bruce
February 8, 1935 - July 6, 2015. Passed away peacefully, with family at his side at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Guelph, in his 81st year. Lovingly remembered by Maureen, his wife of 58 years, his son, Kevin, daughters, Cheryl Beck (Herb), Deborah Lynn and Winston, our long haired miniature Dachshund. Proud grandfather to Jennifer Beck, Rodger Beck (Carly), Robyn Beck-Martin (Harley) and Alex Beck and great-grandchildren Austin, Taylor, Dallas, Lyla and a baby girl on the way. He is survived by brother; Cecil (Margaret) Mitchell and sisters; Betty (Ron) Parsons and Margaret Mitchell. Survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by a brother; Donald (3 years old) and his parents, Cecil William Walter Mitchell and Beatrice Hannah Mitchell (nee Hooper). Bruce was employed by Sheldon's Engineering, Graham Petroleum, Mitchell Heating Service, British Petroleum, Petro Canada, Holiday Inn - Maintenance and Electrolee - Waterloo. He was a member of Saint John's Anglican Church, Cambridge. Bruce was an altar server for over 65 years and was made "Altar Server Emeritus" on November 27, 2013. Bruce was a member of Cambridge Lodge # 188 for 49 years and a member of Queen Rebekah Lodge # 54 and Crystal Rebekah Lodge # 286. Many thanks to Dr. Achtymichuk (Family Doctor) and Dr. Millman (SJHC - Guelph). A thank you to nurses at St. Joseph's Health Centre - Guelph, Sheila, Debbie, Marlene, Deborah, Kirsten, Michelle, Bonnie, Paulette, Claire, Martin and Sarah. In keeping with Bruce's wishes, there will be no visitation at the Funeral Home and cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on July 25, 2015 at Saint John's Anglican Church, 567 Queenston Road, Cambridge, at 11 a.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will be in Mount View Cemetery, Cambridge.
