- For this reason, the parish was separated from Elmira. The next three pastors (C.F.W. Brandt, H. Schroeder and J. C. Borth) served Floradale, Salem and Linwood. Under the pastorate of Rev. Borth, a new church was built in 1880. After his departure in 1881.

REV. JOHN C. BORTH
Word has been received here of the death of Rev. John C. Borth. 82. pastor emeritus of St. John's: Lutheran church, Port Richmond, N.Y., at his home 123 Maine avenue, Westerleigh, Staten Island, NY, on Feb. 5 Rev. Mr. Borth was born in Kitchener on Sept. 20, 1856 and after graduating to the ministry he served for three years in Floradale. He married Mary Ruppel of Elmira, who survives together with five daughters. Burial was made last Wednesday.

REV. JOHN BORTH, 82, LONG IN PULPIT HERE; At St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Richmond 42 Years
The Rev. John C. Borth, pastor emeritus of St. John's Lutheran Church at Port Richmond, S. I., died Sunday night at his home in Westerleigh of a heart attack after three days illness. He had served the church forty-two years. His age was 82. Mr. Borth was born in Kitchener, Ont. He studied for the ministry at Concordia College at Fort Wayne, Ind., and was graduated from the Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis in 1878. He was appointed pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church in 1897 and was made pastor emeritus in 1931. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Borth; five daughters, Flora and Lydia Borth, Mrs. Henry Weichel, Mrs. Drew Martin and Mrs. E. C. Wenzel.
