______________________________
ARMITAGE, JOSEPH HARKMAN was born in Newmarket on October 21,1860. He graduated from McGill University in 1886, following which he took some postgraduate work at Edinburgh and London. In October of that year he came to Waterloo, and entered into partnership with Dr. J. H. Webb. The duration of this arrangement has not been determined, but he practiced in Waterloo for nearly twenty five years, being an esteemed physician who was regarded as competent and highly skilled. The major part of the information concerning him is devoted to the circumstances of the accident which resulted in his death. A fall over a bannister onto the floor below, at his Queen Street residence, resulted in a fracture of the spine from which he died on January 18, 1911. He was survived by his wife and two children.
