      The death took place on Wednesday morning, August 13, of Jacob Nicholas Ball, at his home on William street, Waterloo, following a lingering illness. The funeral took place on Friday morning to the St. Louis R. C. church for service and to St. Mary's cemetery for interment.

      The late Mr. Ball was born at Hawkesville on June 28, 1851, and for many years was a resident of Waterloo where he carried on a jewelry business until his retirement about six years ago. A wife. five daughters and two sons sur vive, namely, Mrs. Louis Dietrich, Waterloo, Mrs. John Giever, Milwaukee, Mrs. Geo. Lauber, Mrs. Charles Miller, Mrs. John Uhrig. Charles and Clarence, all of Kitchener; also two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Doerr of Michigan and Mrs. P. Dentinger of Bamberg, and one brother, Joseph Ball of Kitchener.
