    • Dr. Frederick H. Sherk, "a native of Ontario, spent his boyhood in attending the public school. When pretty well up in his "teens" he passed the teachers' examination and spent several years in teaching in this county. In 1887 he entered the Toronto University and Medical College where he studied medicine. After having taken four full terms, he graduated and received his degree of M.D. and is now practicing at Sault St. Marie, Algoma, Ontario. He is married to May Cunningham."


      Eby, Ezra E. (1895). A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character. Berlin [Kitchener, Ont.]: [s.n.].

      SCHERK, FREDERICK H. spent several years teaching school in the county before entering the University of Toronto Medical School. He graduated in l890, and his card was in the Berliner Journal on November 13.

      Dr. F. H. Scherk, Graduate of the University of Toronto, and licentiate of the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario. Office on Peter Street by the watertower.

      His card appeared until May 28, 1891, and by 1903 the University of Toronto Monthly said he was in Campbellford. According the Eby's History of Waterloo Township, he practised at Sault Ste. Marie in 1895. On January l4, 1947 He died at his home in Hensall.

      SCHERK, Dr. Frederick H., M.D. - Suddenly, at his residence in Hensall, Ont on Tuesday evening, Jan. 14. 1947, Dr. Frederick H. Scherk, beloved husband of Olive Kathleen McCool. Hensall, Ont. (formerly of 67 Balsam Ave., Toronto). member of St. Aidan's Lodge. No. 567, A.F. & A.M. Resting at the William Sherrin Funeral Home, 873 Kingston Rd., Toronto, from 9 o'clcok Thursday evening. Funeral service in the chapel on Friday, Jan. 17, at 3 p.m. Interment St. John's Cemetery, Norway.
