    • Hummel, Wilfred (Bill)

Bill died suddenly but peacefully at his residence on Friday, January 2, 2015 in Markdale, Ontario at the age of 90. Beloved husband of Kay (nee Barrie) of 65 years.

Predeceased by his sisters Marjorie McDonald and Avis Onn and his brothers Cecil and Pat Hummel. Also predeceased by his loving daughter Barb MacDonald. Loving father of Rick Hummel (Kim), son-in-law Ross MacDonald, Sandy Boghossian (Mike) and Barrie Hummel (Lisa). Cherished grandfather to Bryon, Kayla (Simon), Jamie (Laura), Scott, Jeffrey, Christian, Jackie, Keith and Jacob.

Bill faithfully served his country as part of the Essex Scottish Regiment and Highland Light Infantry in WWII. Upon his return to Canada, he began his employment at the Barrie Glove and Knitting Company and then later went on to work at Ball Brothers Construction Ltd. for 21 years until his retirement in 1991. Following his retirement he and Kay enjoyed many years at their cottage on Irish Lake. Bill was an avid skier and golfer well into his 80's. He valued spending time with family above all else and will be incredibly missed and fondly remembered.

Bill's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home (507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467). The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow.
