  Bast, Veronica, daughter of John and Susanna (Gascho) Steinman, was born in Wellesley Twp., Ont., July 29, 1893; died at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., Sept. 13, 1976; aged 83 y. On Oct. 3, 1922, she was married to David Bast, who preceded her in death in 1974. Surviving are 2 sons (Alvin and Mahlon), 4 daughters (Susanne - Mrs. David Bowman, Alma - Mrs. Lester Bechtel, Dorothy - Mrs. Sidney Rudy, and Doris - Mrs. John Metzger), 29 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers (Enos and Noah), and one sister (Barbara). She was preceded in death by one son (John), one brother, and 3 sisters. She was a member of Maple View Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Sept. 16, in charge of Alvin Leis and Jacob Roes; interment in adjoining cemetery.
