- WALTER BRUDER 1916 - 2006 Passed away peacefully, at Lanark Place, Kitchener on Monday, January 9, 2006 in his 90th year.Walter was born August 31, 1916 in Switzerland. During the Second World War, he served in the Royal Canadian Navy. Together with his wife Eileen, Walter owned and operated Bruders Wool Shop in Kitchener for 25 years. Walter was a dedicated volunteer with St. John's Ambulance and enjoyed playing his accordion and harmonica with the "Happy Harmonica Band" for over 25 years. Walter and Eileen are charter members of St. Stephen Lutheran Church and enjoyed many trips together travelling across North America, Africa, and Switzerland. Walter also enjoyed forty-five years of cottage life on Georgian Bay with his family.Walter will be sadly missed by his wife of 67 years Eileen (nee: Klinck), three daughters, Carol and her husband Vern Allemang, Marlene and her late husband Buddy Maguire (May 2005) and Chris and her husband Keith Weston; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred and his wife Marguerite Bruder and Paul Bruder and a brother-in-law, Leonard and his wife Myrtle Klinck. Walter was also predeceased by his son-in-law, Dwight Snider; a brother, John Bruder and a sister, Emma Jordan.Friends are invited to share their memories of Walter with his family during visitation at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Thursday, January 12, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Walter's life and faith will be held at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 248 Highland Road East, Kitchener on Friday, January 13 at 11: 30 a.m. with the Rev. Bill Shafer officiating. A reception will be held following the funeral service at the church. A private family interment will have taken place at Woodland Cemetery.The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the marvelous staff of Lanark Place for their loving care and support.Donations in memory of Walter can be made in lieu of flowers to the St. Stephen Lutheran Church Building Fund and can be arranged by calling the funeral home.Condolences/Donations/Flowers www.edwardrgood.com (519)-745-8445.
