Had Been Resident of Listowel and Wallace All Her Life

Mrs. Christian Horne passed away late Sunday afternoon, Aug. 19,1934, at her home on the 2nd Conc. of Wallace, in her 68th year, following illness of the past few years. She had been confined to her bed for the past month suffering with heart trouble.
Mrs. Horne, whose maiden name was Lavina Hallman, was born on March 18, 1867 in Wallace, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. I. Hallman, pioneer residents of the district. She was married Nov. 26, 1889 and during the early period of her married life she resided in Listowel, the past 28 years having been spent on the farm in Wallace Tp.
Surviving are her husband, 5 daughters and one son, Mrs. Nelson Klemmer of Anglia, Saskatchewan, Mrs. Edwin Treitz and Mrs. Isaac Matthews, Wallace, Mrs. Earl Coghlin, Elma Tp., Mrs. Wm. Anderson, of Maryboro, and Mr. Wilfred Horne at home. There are also 8 grandchildren, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, Mr. Isaiah Hallman, Wallace, Mr. Menno Hallman, Chilliwack, B.C., Mr. Ephraim Hallman, Vancouver, B.C., Mrs. John Liesemer of Didsbury, Alberta, Mrs. George Dippel of Kitchener.
Being of a kind and quiet disposition, the deceased lady was beloved by a large circle of friends, who were sorry to hear of her demise. She was a member of Calvary Evangelical Church, Listowel.
The funeral, which was largely attended, was held from the family residence, 2nd Conc. of Wallace, on Wed. Aug. 22, with service at the home at 1:30 o'clock, followed by public service in Calvary Evang. church at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. E. H. Bean conducted the service and was assisted by a former pastor, Rev. L. H. Wagner of Roseville, Interment was made in Fairview Cemetery.
Floral tributes were: Gates Ajar, from the family; sprays from Evang. Sunday School, Sunday school class, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Dippel of Kitchener, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Cooper, the Coghlin family, the Rothwell family, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Binning, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ament, Miss Lillian and Mr. W. Horne, Toronto; wreath, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Horne and family. Flower bearers were Messrs. Norman McDowell, Mervyn Fisher, Abner Fisher, Earl Hallman, Grant Bowman, Harold Good, Alvin Horne, and Clayton Good. Pallbearers were Messrs. Isaiah Hallman, Geo. Dippel, Henry Horne, Henry Fisher, Wm. Good and John Bender.
Relatives attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Wm Dickson, Miss Margaret Opfer, Mrs. Wm Ament, Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Graviston, Tavistock; Mr and Mrs. Geo. Dippel, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Fisher, Kitchener."
