      SAGE, Edith May (nee Charters)
Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her residence, the Westmount Nursing Home in Kitchener, on January 24, 2010 at the age 87. Beloved wife of Lorne Sage (1999). Amazing Mum to Bonnie Barnard and her husband George of Kitchener. Loving Gramma to George and Natalie Barnard, Kim and Trevor Riehl, Darcy and Darline Sage and Kerry Sage. Cherished Great-Gramma to Jaden, Sage, Seth, Riley, Jannelle, Emma and Coran, special Aunt to Nan and sister to Kay. Mum was the daughter of Edward and Ada Charters and was born in Brantford on July 1, 1922. She later met and married Lorne Sage. They began their married life in Brantford eventually settling in Cambridge. Mum worked outside the home all her life until the birth of her first grandchild at which time she chose to devote her energies to him. She also learned to drive at the age of 55. She welcomed each new grandchild with enthusiasm and love often referring to them as her little "preciouses". Mum was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Charlton (1994), her husband Lorne (1999) and her brother Ernie Charters (2009). Visitation will be held at the Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be at the funeral home chapel on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 11 a.m. with visiting one hour prior to service and reception to follow. Interment will be held at a later date. We want to thank the staff at the Westmount Nursing Home, and especially the staff from the Forest Hill Unit, for their wonderful support to Mum and the family. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Parkinson Society Canada or Haiti Relief Fund may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at . Share the memories of Edith online at www.mem.com
