    • GILCHRIST, JAMES

      In Galt Hospital on Thursday evening, January 12, 1928, in his 76th [67th] year. Of Galt. A well known figure, he was the crossing tender at Main St. for several years, which brought him in contact with a great many people. Mr. Gilchrist was born in the neighbourhood of Killean. A widower, he leaves no family. He was a member of First Church. A brother, who lives in Alberta, survives. Funeral on Sat., Jan. 14 at 2 from Allen and Ray's Undertaking Parlours to Mount View Cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. K. J. Macdonald. Pallbearers: T. Smith, G. Leeds, A. McPherson, J. Brown, E. Rutherford and M. Krull.

      -Information from the death certificate: Born in Puslinch, son of Angus Gilchrist and Barbara Thomson. Age 67 years. Informant - William Gilchrist of Galt.

      -Information from Knox Presbyterian Church of Crieff baptism records: B. March 15, 1857, son of Angus Gilchrist and Barbara Thomson of lot 10, 1st concession of Puslinch. His brother, Angus was born on July 23, 1863.
