    • Bast.- Allan, son of Jacob and Catherine (Albrecht) Bast, was born in Wellesley, Ont., May 9, 1912; died of a heart attack at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., Nov. 30, 1988; aged 76 y. On June 15, 1933, he was married to Barbara Lichti, who survives. Also surviving are 2 daughters (Elaine Barbara and Marlene Idella Shantz), 7 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, 3 brothers (Harvey, Emerson, and Robert), and 5 sisters (Edna Gerber, Elvera Hackett, Helena Miller, Erma Gerber, and Esther Jantzi). He was preceded in death by one son (Ralph Jacob), one sister (Idella), and 2 brothers (Lloyd and William). He was a member of Mapleview Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Nov. 3, in charge of Victor Dorsch and Alvin Leis; interment in Mapleview Cemetery.

      Bast, Allan - Suddenly, on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Allan Bast, of 41 Henry St. E., Wellesley. Allan was born in Wellesley 76 years ago, a son of the late Jacob Bast and the late Catherine Albrecht. He was a member of Maple View Mennonite Church and had operated a store at Phllipsburg for 20 years, retiring to Wellesley in 1969. Beloved husband of Barbara Louisa Lichti of Wellesley; dear father of Elaine Barbara Bast of Smith Falls, Marlene Idella and her husband Clare Shantz of St. Agatha and daughter-in-law, Carla (Mrs. Ross Fries) of Kitchener; dear brother of Harvey Bast of Wellesley, Emmerson and his wife Lucinda Bast of Heidelberg, Robert Bast of Stratford, Edna (Mrs. Sam Gerber) of Wellesley, Elvera (Mrs. Walter Hackett) of Guelph, Helena (Mrs. Clarence Miller) of Baden, Erma (Mrs. Roy Gerber) of Wellesley, Esther (Mrs. Ira Jantzi) of RR 2, Wellesley. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Becky (Mrs. Gary Malcolm), Mellony Shanta [Shantz?], Dale Kelly, Todd Bast and Mark and Laurie Fries; one great-grandson Dillon Bast. He was predeceased by one son, Ralph Jacob in 1977; by one sister, Idella and two brothers, Lloyd and William and three brothers-in-law. Visitation at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 40 Henry St., Wellesley, where the family will receive friends this evening (Thursday) from 7-9 and on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon Saturday, Dec.3, removal will be made to Maple View Mennonite Church, for funeral service at 2: 30 p.m., Rev. Victor Dorsch will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials to the Intensive Care Unite at St. Mary's General Hospital or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
