A "group photo by Edward E. Bowman shows a painted backdrop that the photographer likely used between 1893 and 1897. It does not appear in any of the photos he is known to have taken between 1890 and 1893 when he was sharing studio space with Daniel S. Way. One of Way's distinct studio backdrops from the 1880s can be seen in a digital reproduction that Lyngklip recreated for the new exhibit. When the two men parted company in 1893, Bowman built and furnished his own gallery on Bridge Street, and the backdrop shown here was likely part of the new studio outfitting he purchased for the new business...."
