    • Franklin Devine from Hespeler

      He joined the Army on Nov., 8th 1915 WWI . He was in the 50th Battalion and served in Canada, France and England. He was injured while fighting in Somme France specifically Ancre Heights. He was injured in 1916 as a result of an explosive attack. Many suffered casualties and were killed as a result of hidden German machine guns. Over 24,000 Canadians died fighting at Somme. He was sent to the Scottish General Hospital in Aberdeen Scotland and then to the Grandville Canadian Special Hospital in Ramsgate, Kent, England where he met his bride Mable Tucker. She came over from England as a war bride. They had eight children but only 5 survived to adulthood one being my father the youngest. They were married for over 60 years living most of them in Galt
