- Death of Former Local Pastor
Word has been received here of the death of Rev. Berthold Mueller, a former pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church here, which occurred at Wiesbaden, Germany, on March 30th. The late Mr. Mueller was a native of Germany where he received his theological training. Emigrating to Canada he affiliated himself with the Canada Synod of the Lutheran Church. He was pastor of the New Hamburg Trinity Lutheran Church from 1895 to 1903, and during his pastorate here endeared himself to a host of friends both in and out of his congregation. Leaving here in 1903 he preached in Plumas, Man., and later in Winnipeg. He returned to his native land of Germany about twenty years ago where he had charge of a large Lutheran church in the city of Wiesbaden, which post he relinquished some time ago owing to ill health. The late Rev. Mr. Mueller was twice married. His first wife died while he was pastor of the local church in 1900. He leaves his wife, four sons and three daughters to mourn his demise. The children are: Mr. Ernst Mueller and Mrs. John O. Ritz, of Dewet, Man., Waldemar, of Gretna, Man., Mrs. W. E. Belcher, Miss Lulu Mueller, and Harry, of Vancouver, and Theodore of Wiesbaden, Germany.
