    • GORDON, Dr. George W. -- Suddenly, at K-W Hospital, on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 1990, Dr. George Gordon, of Kitchener, age 79 years. At the time of his death, Dr. Gordon was still actively involved in the operation of the family optometry practice. his career spanned a 62 year period at the Ontario Street locations. He was a former alderman for the City of Kitchener, He was a member and past president of the K-W Junior Chamber of Commerce/ Jaycees; a member of the Twin city Masonic Lodge No. 509 AF & AM; Guelph chapter of Rose Croix; Guelph Lodge of Perfection, Moore Consistory, Hamilton; Mocha Temple, London, Ont. and the Waterloo County Shrine Club. George was a former member of Kitchener Granite Club, Rockway Golf Club, Kiwanis, Sales and Ad Club and a founding member Kitchener Sports Association. He enjoyed over 50 years of involvement with the Boy Scouts culminating in his appointment as Assistant District Commissioner of the North Waterloo Boy Scouts of Canada. He was also awarded Three Beads Gilwellian for outstanding contributions to scouting. He was a long-time member and elder at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Beloved husband of Kay (Kellerman); loving and special father of Bonnie Gordon, Sandra and her husband Blaire Foote, George W. Gordon Jr., and his wife Susan, all of Kitchener. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren. Todd and Kimberly Foote and Ryan Gordon. Brother of Margaret (Mrs. Frank Burchett) of Kitchener, Janet (Mrs. George House) of Hamilton and Brother-in-law of Tena Gordon of Kitchener. He was predeceased by his parents, George Gordon and the former Gertrude Holzworth and his brother Donald Gordon. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, today (Friday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon Saturday, transfer will be made to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 84 Queen St. N., Kitchener, for funeral service at 2 p.m., with Rev. Grant MacDonald and Rev. Chester Lewis officiating. Private family committal service at Woodland cemetery.
