Following a lengthy illness, Minnie Elizabeth Sippel, beloved wife of Rev. H. J. Lamach, passed away at her home here last Thursday, February 19, aged 56 years.
Deceased was born in Blandford Township on February 5, 1886, a daughter of the late Hy. Sippel and Mrs. Sippel. She spent her childhood days there and later studied for school teacher. After her graduation she taught school for some years in Blenheim, Blandford and East Zorra Townships and at Philipsburg. She was married on Sept. 25, 1916, to Rev. H. J. Lamach and resided in Walkerton and later in Heidelberg, while Mr. Lamach was pastor of the Lutheran Church at those places. She was active in church work and endeared herself to the congregations due to her kindly and pleasant disposition. Rev. Mr. Lamach withdrew from active ministry about three and a half years ago and they came to reside with her aged mother, Mrs. Sippel. While residing in New Hamburg, Mrs. Lamach was a valued member of the Missionary Society of Trinity Lutheran Church and also a Sunday School teacher.
She leaves in bereavement her husband and mother, one brother, Oscar Sippel, Blandford, and three sisters, Mrs. John A. Facey (a twin sister), Blandford, Mrs. Jacob Horman, Stratford, and Miss Annie Sippel, R.N., Detroit.
The funeral was held on Monday afternoon with a private service in the home and a public service in Trinity Lutheran Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. R. Mosig. A very large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends attended the last sad rites and many floral tributes were sent by sorrowing friends. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery.
Among the many from out of town were pastors of the Canada Lutheran Synod, including Dr. J. Reble, president of the Synod, Rev. and Mrs. E. Tuerkheim, Zurich, Rev. and Mrs. C. Zarnke, East Zorra, Rev. and Mrs. G. R. Schultz, Philipsburg, Rev. and Mrs. W. Nolting, Wellesley, Rev. and Mrs. L. A. Kalbfleisch, Elmira, Rev. and Mrs. K.
