    • John Berner - John Berner, 79, of Peel Street, New Hamburg, died Tuesday in K-W Hospital. A native of Elmira, he retired from farming eight years ago and moved to the village. He had operated a thresher for many years in the Breslau and Shantz Station area. Surviving is his wife the former Edna Plate, whom he married in 1923 after his first wife, the former Matilda Doerr, had died. Also surviving are six sons, Charlton of Nipigon, Harold of Sarnia, Howard of Ottawa, Willard of Waterloo, Theodore and Jack of New Hamburg; a brother, Albert of Kitchener, and a sister, Mrs. Peter (Ida) Fisher of Kitchener. A brother, William, also predeceased hm. There are six grandchildren. The body is at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home where a service will be held at 3 pm Thursday, Rev. H.F. Schade will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
