    • Flu Is Fatal To Elmira Resident
      Mr. John Weitzel Succumbs After Two-day Illness; Hold Funeral Friday

      Ill just two days, Mr. John Weitzel passed away at his home here early Wednesday morning. The late Mr. Weitzel was taken ill Monday with summer flu which has been prevalent in this district the past few weeks. His conditions gradually became worse until death eased his suffering yesterday.

      Born in Elmira, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Weitzel, the deceased man was 70 years old. He was formerly in the harness business here and latterly has been an employee of Link-Belt Limited. During the time Mr. John R Ruppel was bandmaster, Mr. Weitzel was a valued member of the Elmira Musical Society Band.

      He is survived by his widow, two sons, William and Louis of Elmira and one brother, George Weitzel of Stratford. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

      The funeral will take place Friday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock to the Elmira Cemetery.
