    • Jacob Dreisinger

      Early Monday morning, there passed to his reward a well known resident of this village in the person of Jacob Dreisinger, after five weeks of painful illness. Deceased was born in Bavaria, Germany, on June 25, 1829. In his 7th year he came with his family to Conestogo. On the 11th of October 1853 he was married to Eva Oswald, wife for over 60 years who shared with him the joys and sorrows of life and who now mourns his departure. The family lived on several farms in Woolwich, the last being the Zilliax farm now occupied by one of his sons, Mr. Jacob O. Dreisinger, 2 miles east of Elmira, where they lived about 28 years. The last three years they have lived with their daughter, Mrs. Fred Hectus, in Elmira. The family consisted of the following children: Michael and John, Elmira; Jacob, on the old homestead; Katie (Mrs. Wm. Brox) and William of Elmira; Lena (Mrs. Henry Holle) who died some years ago; Melinda (Mrs. Fred Hectus), Elmira. Eighteen grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, his brother John, Elmira, and a sister (Mrs. Fox of Wyatt, Indiana), also survive him. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. J. Strempfer, pastor of St. James Lutheran church officiating. A large number of relatives and friends paid a last tribute of respect to the deceased by attending the funeral.
