Sad Bereavement - In our obituary column this week will be found a notice of the death of Mrs. Robert Cranston, of Cedar Creek. The deceased lady was widely connected in Galt and North Dumfries and will be very much regretted. Mrs. Cranston's illness was of very short duration. Medical assistance was first summoned on Friday last. At once it was seen that her condition was very serious, congestion of the liver having set in. Shortly after unconsciousness supervened, which was followed by death on Monday morning at an early hour. Death has visited Mr. Cranston very heavily lately, first by the carrying away of his son John a short time ago and now by the loss of his life's partner. So widely known and deservedly respected as Mr. Cranston is, we but give voice to the general sentiment, when we say that the most heartfelt sympathy for himself and family is felt throughout the entire community.
Mrs. Cranston's funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon last, from her late residence to Galt Cemetery. The attendance was almost the largest we have ever seen. Friends of the family from all sections of the country were present. In the absence of Rev. J. A. R. Dickson, of whose church the deceased lady has long been a most consistent member, the impressive funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. K. Smith, Rev. Mr. Thompson, of Ayr, and Rv. Mr. Porteous.
