  Henry Bechtel "the fifth member of old Jacob Bechtel's family, resided at Blair, where he was engaged in the milling business. He was married to Barbara Kinzie. They had a large family" Eby, Ezra E. (1895). A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character. Berlin [Kitchener, Ont.]: [s.n.]. "N.B. - The names of five of the children of Henry Bechtel's family were not received in time for publication." _________________ The first postmaster at Blair was Wendal Bowman who served from 1858 to 1863. Mr. Bowman was succeeded by Henry Bechtel Sr. who operated the post office from 1863 to 1865. Mr. Bechtel was in turn succeeded by John R. Renshaw who was Blair's postmaster from 1865 to 1892. It was during Mr. Renshaw's tenure, in 1874, that the Grand Trunk Railway built a station in Blair and the post office moved to that facility.
