    Notes:

    KIRBY, PATRICK JOSEPH was born in Arthur, Ontario, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick M. Kirby. He received his preliminary education locally, and entered the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine, graduating in 1907. He was president of the executive of the University of Toronto Medical Society in 1906 and 1907, and a member of University soccer teams.

    He began to practice in New Germany in 1907, and remained there until 1912, when he moved to Guelph. He built up a large practice, and was regarded as a skilful surgeon.

    He maintained an interest in sports, especially baseball and hockey.

    He died in Guelph on March 16, 1928, and was survived by his wife and four children. His brother, Dr. Thomas Kirby, of Levack, also survived him.

    The Departed
    Dr. Patrick J. Kirby

    Guelph-Patrick Joseph Kirby, M. D., one of the most popular members of the medical profession in Guelph, died at his home on Saturday following a week's illness from pneumonia. Born in Arthur, the late Dr. Kirby graduated from the University of Toronto in 1907. He commenced to practice medicine in New Germany, where he stayed until 1912, when he came to Guelph. During the 18 years he resided in the city Dr. Kirby was regarded as one of Guelph's most skilful surgeons. Surviving are his widow, formerly, Miss Katharine Halter, New Germany, and four children. The funeral will be held on Tuesday morning at Guelph.

    One brother, also a physician, practised some years ago in Kitchener. Another brother is a priest in Hamilton.
