    SHANTZ, Ellis Ellis James Shantz, 78, passed away in the Bonnie Brae Health Care Centre, Tavistock on Tuesday, October 26, 2010. He was born in Waterloo on March 2, 1932, a son of the late Lloyd S. Shantz and the former Beatrice Snider. He was a member of Cassel Mennonite Church. Ellis is survived by his wife, the former Mary Anna Kropf, whom he married at Cassel Mennonite Church on July 5, 1958; two sons, Jim and wife Jan Shantz of Waterloo, Byron Shantz of Stratford; two grandchildren, Ashley and Matthew Shantz; three brothers, Merle and wife Velma Shantz of Listowel, Royal and wife Kelli Shantz of Niagara Falls, Calvin and wife Marianne Shantz of Newton; "Kropf" brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Violet and Don Moores of Kitchener, Lorne Kropf of Tavistock, Erma Kropf of London, Verna and David Wideman of Parkhill, John and Arlene Kropf of Tavistock. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Ruth Kropf and his brothers-in-law, Sam Martin and Al Heuss. Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home , 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in Cassel Mennonite Church on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 11 a.m. Pastor Jim Whitehead will officiate. Cremation and burial at East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery, 16th Line will follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Mennonite Central Committee or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated and may be made through the Francis Funeral Home by calling 519-655-2431.
