    Bender, Veronica, daughter of Christian and Magdalene (Schrag) Baechler, was born in East Zorra Twp., Ont., Apr. 30, 1889; died after a lengthy illness at K-W Hospital, Kitchener, Ont., Dec. 22, 1968; aged 79 y. 7 m. 22 d. On Jan. 3, 1907, she was married to Samuel J. Bender, who preceded her in death by 19 years. Surviving are 2 daughters (Alma - Mrs. Solomon Roth and Matilda), 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, one brother (Christ), and 3 sisters (Mrs. Peter Schultz, Mrs. Peter Roth, and Mrs. William Bender). Three sisters and 4 brothers preceded her in death. She was a member of Steinman's Church, where funeral services were held Dec. 26, with Emanuel Steinman and Elmer Schwartzentruber officiating.

    Mrs. Samuel Bender

    Funeral services were held at Steinman's Mennonite Church last Thursday for Mrs Samuel Bender. 441 Huron St., New Hamburg. who died Sunday. Dec. 22 at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital at the age of 79.

    Born in East Zorra Township, she resided in New Hamburg most of her life. She was a member of Steinman's Church.

    The former Veronica Baechler. she was a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs. Christian Baechler.

    She was predeceased by her husband 19 years ago

    She leaves two daughters. Mrs. Solomon (Alma) Both and Matilda, both of New Hamburg: one brother. Christian Baechler of Tavistock: three sisters. Mrs. Peter (Katie) Schultz of RR 1. Milverton. Mrs. Peter (Susan) Roth and Mrs. William (Mabel) Bender, both of New Hamburg, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren

    Rev. Elmer Schwartzentruber officiated.

    BENDER, Mabel - Passed away, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at her residence, Nithview Community, New Hamburg where she was active in their many programs. She was born 95 years ago in South Easthope Township and was the daughter of the late Christian and Magdelena (Schrag) Baechler. Beloved wife of the late William Bender who predeceased her October 15, 1988. Dear mother of Reta and husband Cecil Wagler, Earl and wife Ferne Bender, Verle and wife Mae Anne Bender, all of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by her 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Also remembered by her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Ruby of New Hamburg. Mabel was predeceased by her sons, Glenn and Ray; sisters, Catherine and husband Peter Schultz, Veronica and husband Samuel Bender, Sarah and husband Michael Iutzi, Susan and husband Peter Roth; brother, Christian and wife Annie Baechler; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Alma Bender, Fannie and husband David Lichti, Lorne and wife Katie Bender, Isaac Ruby. Mabel was a member at Hillcrest Mennonite Church, New Hamburg where she had been a member of WMSC. She was also a former member of the Haysville Sunshine Club. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home , 291 Huron St., New Hamburg on Saturday March 14, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The interment will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2009, at 2 p.m. at 19th Line East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery. A memorial service to celebrate Mabel's life will follow at 3 p.m. at Hillcrest Mennonite Church with Pastor Jan Steckley and Pastor David Driedger officiating.     BENDER, Matilda Katie -- On Thursday. Jan 4, 1979, at K-W Hospital, Kitchener, Miss Matilda Bender, of Nithview Home and formerly of 441 Huron St., New Hamburg, aged 68 years. She owned the Bender Mill End Store for 19 years and was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church, Route 2, Baden. Daughter of the late Samuel J. Bender and the former Veronica Baetchler. She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Mrs. Alma (Solomon N.) Roth of 279 Bleams Rd. W., New Hamburg and by three nephews, L. Samuel Roth, Elmer S. Roth and Gordon Roth, and four nieces Mildred Roth, Mrs. Harold (Jean) Schultz, Mrs. Albert (Anna) Maschke and Mrs. Bruce (Ruth) Steinmann. The late Miss Bender is resting at the Omand-Jutzi Funeral Home, New Hamburg Chapel, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg after 7 p.m. this evening and until noon Sunday, when removal will be made to Steinman Mennonite Church Where funeral service will be conducted at 2: 30 p.m. with Rev Vernon Zehr, Rev. Elmer Schwartzentruber and Rev. Gerald Schwartzentruber officiating. Spring interment in the church cemetery.

    BENDER, Hilda Passed away peacefully on Friday May 22, 2015 at The Maples Home for Seniors, Tavistock. Hilda was formerly of New Hamburg and was born there 91 years ago. She was the daughter of the late Peter and Susan (Baechler) Roth. Beloved wife of the late Elmon Bender who predeceased her November 6, 1999. Loving mother of Diane Gerber, Gary Bender, Randy and wife Joyce Bender and Gail and husband Gerald Scheerer. Sadly missed by her 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Dear sister-in-law of Edith Bender, Helene Eicher, Hilda and husband Harvey Roth, Dorothy Bender, Merlin Bender and Delmar Bender. Hilda was predeceased by her son-in-law Paul Gerber, brother Harold and wife Mattie Roth, sisters-in-law Elmina and husband Louis Christner, Edna and husband Floyd Boshart, Nova Bender, Lauretta Bender, brothers-in-law Willis Bender and William Eicher. Hilda was a member of East Zorra Mennonite Church, R.R. # 1 Tavistock. She had been a vendor with her husband and family at the Kitchener Farmer's Market for many years. She was a foster mother to many young children over the years. Family and friends visited at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at East Zorra Mennonite Church, R.R. # 1 Tavistock with Pastor Ray Martin and Pastor Tanya Dyck Steinmann officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Loving father of Ryan and wife Sara Roth of New Hamburg, Ron Roth of Baden and Marilyn Roth of London, England. Sadly missed by his grandsons Owen, Adam, Isaac and Nate.
