    Benjamin E. Eby, "the sixth member and third son of the family of Bishop Benjamin Eby, was born February 10th, 1818. He was married to Elizabeth, daughter of Abraham and Mary (Schneider) Cressman. She was born October 4th, 1818, and died February 23rd, 1889, aged 70 years, 4 months and 19 days. They moved on a farm two and one-half miles east of Berlin, on south-west part of lot No. 120, German Company's Tract, where they lived for many years. During their old age they lived with their son-in-law, John Erb, where they died. He died July 9th, 1872. They were blessed with a family of five children"

    Amos Eby, "the only son of Benjamin E. Eby, was born April 13th, 1842. He was married, February 9th, 1864, to Hettie Moyer. He commenced farming at home on his father's farm, but in the year 1870 he moved on his own in Maryborough, Wellington County, Ontario, where he resided for a number of years. Since entering the ministry of the Mennonite Brethren in Christ he has disposed of his farm, and at present he is stationed on the Stayner field of labor where he is doing a noble work for our Lord. As a minister he has proved successful on every field on which he has been stationed by the conference. Like his cousin, Bishop Elias Weber, the winter months of his youthful days were spent at school, while during the summer months he was engaged in tilling the soil, hence his education is also limited, yet he is a good speaker in both languages, is well read in Bible literature, and is filled with that Spirit which comes from on high. May his efforts be crowned with glorious success. He has a family of six children, namely: Allan who was married to Clara Snider and resided on the old "Stafford Farm", near the toll bridge, where he and his brother-in-law, Mr. Moyer, were killed by lightning, August 9th, 1892, leaving a wife and family; Louisa, Matilda, Norman (dead), Josiah (dead), Ida."

    REV. AMOS EBY

    The death occurred Tuesday, Feb. 27th, of Rev. Amos Eby at his home at 21 Chapel Street, Kitchener, after an illiness of several weeks. The deceased was born near, Kitchener on April 13, 1842 and was a minister of the Mennonite Brethren in Christ church until he retired some fifteen years ago and took up his residence In the city. He leaves to mourn his loss besides his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Edwin Snider of Rochester, N. Y., and Mrs. Rev. L. A. Wood of Mansfield, Ohio, besides eight grandchildren. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon from the residence to the Bethany Mennonite Church for service and interment at the East End Mennonite cemetery.

    Wambold. - Angeline, beloved wife of Deacon Abram H. Wambold, died at her home 11 miles northeast of High River, Alta., Oct. 10, 1912; aged 47 y. 10 m. 24 d. Two weeks before her death Sister Wambold, while in a conversation over the telephone, was stricken with heart failure and later suffered a stroke of paralysis, and last of all pneumonia set in which resulted in her ultimate death. Funeral services took place Oct. 12, at the Mount View Mennonite Church, eight miles northeast of High River, Alta., conducted by I. Miller, N. R. Weber and N. B. Stauffer. Text, Prov. 31: 28-31. In her death the family suffers the loss of a kind and faithful mother, the community a good neighbor and the church a consistent member.

Simon Moyer, son of Jonas Moyer, both living near Berlin, Waterloo Co., Ontario, were killed by lightning while standing under a tree. They had gone out into the field to plow after supper, and after having plowed a few rounds, they saw a shower coming and they sought shelter under a tree in the adjoining field where the lightning struck them and instantly killed both. Their wives, after hearing the severe stroke, went out to see if it had struck the barn, and while thus looking they saw the horses running in the field, and not seeing the men they went in search for them, and found them lying under the burning tree. What a shock must this have been, to find their dear husbands lifeless before them. They lald them to one side and went after help. Allen Eby's age was 27 years, 10 months and 21 days. He leaves a widow with one child to mourn their loss.

    Moyer's age was 26 years, 5 months and 20 days. He leaves a widow to mourn her loss. They were buried side by side in the Eby Cemetery, Berlin, on the 11th of August. This was the saddest funeral we ever witnessed. The entire community was stirred, and all seemed to deply sympathize with these two young widows and breaved friends. It is estimated that over 1,500 people were present at the burial. The services were conducted by Eld. H. Goudie at the house, and H. S. Hallman and Eld. Yaeger at the church.     Louisa (Louise) was the second of six children born to Amos Eby (1842-1923) and Esther Eby, née Moyer (1838-1930). She was born in Waterloo Township, Ontario, where her father was a farmer. In 1870, the family moved to a farm in Maryborough Township, Wellington County.

    Louisa married Edwin S. Snider in 1897. At the time, Edwin worked for his uncle, Dilman Shantz, at the Jacob Y. Shantz & Son Company, a button factory in Buffalo, New York.

    The 1900 United States Census finds Louise, Edwin, and a one-year-old daughter, Helen G., living in Rochester, New York. Edwin was a foreman in a button factory. This factory was operated by another of Edwin's uncles, Moses Shantz.

    By the time of the 1910 census, Edwin, Louise, Helen, and a son, Roswell, lived in Newstead, New York. Edwin's occupation was noted as superintendent in a button factory.

    The 1920 census shows that the family had returned to Rochester. The household included Edwin (age 47), Louise (50), and children, Helen G. (21), Roswell E. (18) and Edwin's mother, Lucinda Snider (71). Edwin was a superintendent in a button factory.

    In 1930, Edwin, Louise, and her mother, Esther Eby, lived in Ferndale, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. Edwin was listed as a button manufacturer. By this time, Helen and Roswell were living in New York City, where Helen was a musician, and Roswell, a scenic designer.

    Louisa died in Cambria County, Pennsylvania, in 1937. She was buried in the First Mennonite Cemetery, Kitchener, Ontario, near the graves of her parents, Amos and Esther Eby.

    Although both "Edwin S. Snider" and "Louisa Eby" are inscribed on the gravestone, it is uncertain whether he is buried at that spot, since his birth and death years (unlike his wife's dates) have not been added. The inscription for Helen G. Snider is on the back of the stone.

    Of 1701 King St. East, Preston Cambridge, at the South Waterloo Memorial Hospital, Wednesday, Feb. 6, 1974, Ada Irene Harvey, beloved wife of G.     Friends called at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, after 7 p.m. Friday until Sunday noon, when removal was made to Bethel Mennonite Church for funeral service at 3 p.m. Burial in the Elmira Mennonite cemetery.
