PARALYSIS FATAL TO MRS. SAILER

Mother of Founder of the Daily Post Succumbs at Age of 81

Mrs. Mary Ann Sailer died at her home oil West McCarty Street at 1:15 last, night after a brief illness of complications. She was 81. years old.

Mrs. Sailer contracted pneumonia about two weeks ago but had apparently fully recovered. Thursday night she suffered a stroke of paralysis and since that time her death had been only a question of days. She was' conscious to the last.

Mary Ann Schefter Sailer was born in Ontario, Canada, July 26, 1853. She married Henry Sailer there February 22, 1870 and a year later they started for Missouri. They first settled in Jefferson, City occupying a house on McCarty Street near the present home place. After two years Mrs Sailer purchased a farm three miles north at Cedar City. They resided there for ten years but desirous of affording their children better educational advantages than were offered at that time in the rural schools of Callaway County moved to Jefferson City where she has resided since that time.

She was the mother of ten children Two died in infancy and one, the late Herman S. Sailer, widely known widely known printer was winning a reputation for himself as a man of letters, died September 30, 1917.

The surviving children are Jos. Sailer, founder and for more than; twenty years editor and publisher of the Jefferson City Daily Post, Sister M. Angeline of the Ursaline Convent at Caruthersville, Sister M. Louise of the Ursaline Convent at Caruthersville, Mrs. R. F. Boehme , Sedalia, Mrs. F. W. Vogel of Jefferson City, Mrs. Rosanne Steel of Wood River, Ill. and Miss Florence Sailer or Jefferson City. There are fourteen grandchildren and one great - grandchild. One brother. Ignatius Schefter of Detroit also survives.

Mrs. Sailer was a faithful and devoted member of St. Peters Church and was perhaps the oldest member of the Ladies' Altar Society of that parish. The funeral will take place Thursday. .
