    KUEPFER, Ivan - Peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton. He was formerly of Country Meadows, Brunner and Milverton and was born in Mornington Township, February 15, 1922, a son of the late Ezra Z. and Lydia (Bender) Kuepfer. Ivan was a member of Riverdale Mennonite Church, Millbank. Ivan was a kind and gentle man who had an everlasting smile for everyone he met. Ivan and Susan had farmed at Peffers until retirement. Beloved husband of the late Susan (nee Jantzi) Kuepfer who predeceased him January 22, 1994. Loving father of Laurene and Robert Bender of New Hamburg, Beatrice and Frank Marshall-Taylor of London and Elizabeth and Paul Collins of Stratford. Special grandpa of Jay and his wife Sok, James and his wife Nak and Robin and her husband Sean and great-grandpa to Kaylene, Mariah, Lorren, Taylor and Dylan. Dear brother of Lavina and (late David) Jantzi of Milverton. He is remembered by brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Catherine and (late John) Jantzi, Katie and (late Levi) Kuepfer, Lydia and Simon Albrecht and Dorothy Kipfer. Ivan was predeceased by two daughters, Ruth Ann and Esther Marie; his sister, Lottie and Rueben Kuepfer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sarah and Ed Albrecht, Menno and Elizabeth Jantzi, Tina and Earl Kipfer. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home , 7 Spencer St., Milverton today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. On Wednesday, April 29, 2009 transfer will be made to Riverdale Mennonite Church for the service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jim Brown officiating. Burial in the adjoining cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Riverdale Mennonite Church or Mennonite Central Committee.

    BENDER, Laurene (Kuepfer)

    Passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2023, after suffering from a stroke 6 days prior. Laurene passed away at the Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth with family by her side. Born 78 years ago in Mornington Township, a daughter of the late Ivan and Susie (Jantzi) Kuepfer.

    Beloved wife of 39 years to the late Robert Clair Bender who predeceased her on August 23, 2013. Dear sister of Beatrice & husband Frank Marshall-Taylor and Liz & husband Paul Collins. Sadly, missed by her nephews Jason (Nyna), James (Nak) and niece, Robin, great-nieces Kaylene, Jayla, Mariah, Lorren, Taylor and great-nephew Dylan. Laurene was predeceased by her sisters in infancy, Ruth Ann Kuepfer and Esther Kuepfer and father-in-law and mother-in-law Clarence & Ida (Roth) Bender.

    Laurene farmed with her beloved husband at RR#1Tavistock and has been a member of the Nithview Community. Longtime and faithful member of Cassel Mennonite Church, Laurene volunteered her time teaching vacation bible study and was the church librarian. Laurene was active in many communities volunteering her time, New Hamburg thrift store and nithview community to name a few. Laurene was very crafty and enjoyed piecing quilts and making comforters for MCC. Laurene had a passion for books and was the owner of a bookstore in Tavistock for a short period of time. Robert and Laurene enjoyed camping, attending plowing matches and listening to bluegrass gospel music together.

    Relatives and friends are invited to the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from 2 \endash 4 & 6 \endash 8 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Cassel Mennonite Church with Pastor Wanda Amstutz to officiate. Interment at the 16th Line East Zorra Cemetery will follow.

    As expressions of sympathy, donations would be accepted to Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth, Cassel Mennonite Church or MCC and can be done through the funeral home.
