MILLBANK - A native of East Zorra township, Mrs. Annie Erb, 75, of Millbank, died Wednesday at the home of her son, Michael, RR 1, Millbank. A daughter of the late Jacob Boshart and Marie Jantzi, she was a member of Cedargrove Amish Mennonite Church, third line of Wellesley Township. Her husband, Menno, to whom she was married Dec. 15, 1898, in Wilmot Township, died in 1954. Survivors include four sons, Michael of RR 1, Millbank, Ezra of Millbank, Aaron and Eli of Lowville, N.Y.; one daughter, Mrs. Ezra (Fannie) Jantzi of Wellesley; one brother, Michael of Wellesley; seven sisters, Mrs. Aaron Jantzi, Mrs. Christian Roth and Mrs. Moses Bast of Wellesley, Mrs. John Albrecht and Mrs. Marie Steckley of Millbank, Mrs. Joseph Lebold of Milverton and Mrs. Peter Lather of Heidelberg; 43 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. The body is at the home of her son Michael where a service will be conducted Sunday at 1: 30 p.m. Memorial service will be conducted by Bishop Samuel Roth at Cedargrove church Sunday at 2: 30 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

MILLBANK - Mrs. Maria Steckly, 83, of Millbank, died today at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Kuepfer.

Born in Baden, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Boshart. She was an Amish Mennonite. Her first husband, Simon Lebold, died in 1937. Her second husband, Solo-mon Steckly, died in 1953.

Surviving are one stepson, Samuel K. Steckly of RR 2, Atwood; five daughters, Mrs. Amos (Mary) Albrecht and Mrs. Solomon (Catherine) Kuepfer, both of Millbank, Mrs. Elizabeth Albrecht of RR 1, Millbank, Mrs. Christian (Nancy) Kuepfer of Linwood and Mrs. Moses (Rachel) Kuepfer of Newton; one brother, Michael of Waterloo; And six sisters, Mrs:. Aaron B. Jantzi, Mrs. Moses, Bast and Mrs. Christian Roth; all of Wellesley, Mrs. Joseph` Dieholt of RR 1, Milverton, Mrs., Peter Lauther of Heidelberg and Mrs. John Albrecht of Kitchener. There are 23 grandchildren and 46. great - grandchildren. Three sisters predeceased her.

The body is at the Solomon Kuepfer home, Millbank, where the funeral will be conducted at 12: 30 p.m. Wednesday. Bu-dal will be in the Amish Mennonite Cemetery, Concession 7, Wellesley. Bishop Amos Albrecht will officiate.

ERB, Michael B. - On Tuesday, Oct. 20, 1987, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Michael Erb, of 6 James St., Milverton.

He had farmed near Millbank prior to his retirement and was born in Wilmot township, 88 years ago, a son of the late Menno L. Erb and the former Annie Boshart. He was a member of Riverdale Mennonite Church, Millbank and a member of the Milverton Senior Citizens. Beloved husband of the former Mary Bast, whom he married December 11, 1924. Lovingly remembered by his children. Nelson and his wife Leona of Millbank, Anna Mae ,and her husband Allen Gascho of Newton, Lorne and his wife Ruby of RR 1 Milverton, Lorene and her husband Lowell Shantz of Hanover, Elmer and his wife Adeline of Millbank, Norma and her husband Harold Zehr of Attica, Mich., Eileen and her husband Ralph Lebold of Waterloo, Florence and her husband David Gascho of RR 1, Milverton, Eva and her friend Wes McKinnon of Mount Budges, Lloyd and his wife Laurene of Millbank; dear brother of Aaron of Lowville, N.Y. and Fanny Mrs. Ezra Jantzi) of Wellesley. Sadly missed by 32 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.

Michael was predeceased by one daughter, Edna in infancy; one great-granddaughter, Joanna in infancy and three brothers, Eli, Ezra and Sam.

Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 9 Pacific Ave., Milverton, after 7 p.m. this evening (Wednesday) and until Friday, Oct. 23 at noon, when transfer will be made to Riverdale Mennonite Church, Millbank, for the service at 2 o'clock p.m., with Rev. Glenn Zehr and Rev. David Jantzi officiating. interment in the church cemetery.

ERB, Ezra B., son of Menno L. and Annie (Boshart) Erb, was born in Wellesley Twp., Ont., Mar. 10, 1910; died at Stratford Hospital on Jan. 14, 1985; aged 74 y. On June 15, 1933, he was married to Matilda Wagler, who survives. Cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by her husband, Simon S. Zehr (September 19, 1975); by three brothers, Aaron, Hubert and Samuel Bast; also two sons, Lloyd (2000) and Irvin (1965); by three sisters, Rachel Gerber, Clara Gerber and Lucinda Bast and by brothers-in-law, Jacob Gerber, John Gerber. Hubert Frey, Emmerson Bast and Russel Hackett.

GERBER, Mrs. Daniel (Laura)

Peacefully, on Saturday, May 22, 1999, at Nithview Home, in New Hamburg, Laura (Lebold) Gerber, formerly of Wellesley.

Laura was born in Wellesley township 83 years ago, daughter of the late Joseph Lebold and the late Barbara Boshart. Mrs. Gerber was a charter member of the Wellesley Mennonite Church. She and her husband, Dan, were former caretakers of the church. She was a resident of Wellesley from 1967 to 1987 then moved to Nithview in March of 1987.

Beloved mother of Norman Gerber of Heidelberg, Dorothy and her husband Bob Pearce of Kitchener, Alice.and her husband Paul Yantzi of RR 1, Shakespeare, Elsie Gerber of Waterloo. Dear sister of Jacob and his wife Fannie Lebold of Millbank, Sarah Gerber of Stratford and Fannie Jantzi of RR 1, Milverton; sister-in-law of Elmer and his wife Ella Mae Schmidt of Millbank, Marian Lebold of Brunner, Emma Brenneman of Brunner, Katie Steckley of Wellesley, Velma Gerber of New Hamburg. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Heidi and her husband John Bailey, Heather Yantzi, Tim and Christina Pearce; also by two great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by her husband, Daniel Gerber (May 15, 1988); one brother, John Lebold (1988) and by two sisters, Leah Wagler and Annie Schmidt; brothers-in-law, Samuel Wagler, Elmer Gerber, Claytus Jantzi.

Visitation was at the Futher Bros. Funeral Home, 40 Henry St., in Wellesley, where family and friends were received on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. only. The funeral service was conducted at the Wellesley Mennonite Church on Monday, May 24, 1999 at 2 p.m. Pastor Ray Martin officiated. Burial followed in Rushes Cemetery, Wellesley township.

GASCHO, John N. - John Norman Gascho, 78, of Tavistock, passed away, in Stratford General Hospital, on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003. He was born in Wellesley on April 16, 1925, a son of the late Ezra and Rachael (Boshart) Gascho. He had operated service stations in Tavistock, where he was a member of the Tavistock Mennonite Church. John is survived by his wife, the former LaVone Zehr, whom he married in East Zorra Mennonite Church, 16th line on September 15, 1948; two sons, Kenneth and wife Rosalie Gascho of Guelph, Wayne and wife Sara Gascho of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Natalie, Andrea, Grant and Paige; his sister-in-law, Joyce Gascho of Woodstock and several Zehr brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his step-mother, Barbara (Stere) Gascho; his brother, Lloyd Gascho; his sister, Laura Erb and her husband LeRoy and Zehr brothers-in-law and sister-in-law. RUTH SHANTZ (nee Roth) 1933 - 2007 Ruth passed away, after a lengthy, but courageous battle with cancer, at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Saturday, September 8, 2007, at the age of 73. Beloved wife and best friend of Leon for almost 49 years, married October 11, 1958. Devoted and loving mom to Perry Shantz and Penny Penticost and her husband John, all of Kitchener. Ruth will be missed by her grandbabies Kylie, Brooke, and Joel Penticost. Lovingly remembered by her 53 grandchildren and 88 great grandchildren. Ruth is the last surviving of her siblings. GERBER, Lorne David - Passed away suddenly on Thursday October 27, 2005, at Stratford General Hospital. Lorne resided in Stratford and was formerly of Shakespeare. He was born 61 years ago in Kitchener and was the son of the late John and Clara (Bast) Gerber. Beloved husband of Viola (Gerber) Gerber whom he married June 13, 1964. Dear father of Bob and wife Jill Howatt Gerber of RR1, Brunner, Brad and wife Debbie Gerber of Kitchener and Tammy and husband Michael Lynch of St. Thomas. Sadly missed by his grand-children Kristina and Kyle, Brandon and Brianna, Michael and Sarah. Lorne volunteered at Greenwood Court, Stratford and was an avid car lover. Lorne worked at Budd Automotive, Kitchener for 30 years and was presently working at D.H. Jutzi in Stratford. GERBER, Norman L. Passed away at his home in Heidelberg on Thursday, January 28, 2010 in his 67th year. Dear brother of Dorothy Pearce (Bob), Alice Yantzi (Paul) and Elsie Gerber. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Heidi Bailey (John), Heather Yantzi (Charlie Wettlaufer), Tim Pearce, Christina Pearce. Dear great-uncle to Selina and Noah Bailey. Predeceased by his parents, Dan (1988) and Laura (1999) Gerber. Norm worked as a road equipment mechanic in his early years. He was a long-time employee of the City of Kitchener in the Transit Department and then became an employee of the Region of Waterloo ten years ago when Grand River Transit was formed. He was a fleet supervisor at the GRT depot on Strasburg Road until his retirement several years ago. Norm had a reputation as a very dedicated worker and had excellent rapport with the mechanics and service staff who reported to him. Norm was our brother and uncle and we will miss him. He will also be missed by his best friends and neighbours, Larry and Lynn Bast and their sons, Kyle and Wesley. Norm's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, January 30, 2010 from 6-9 p.m. at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. A private family service will take place on Sunday. Interment will take place at the Rush's Cemetery in Wellesley. Simeon Jacob Jantzi

May 30, 1942 - February 10, 2023

It is with sadness that we share the news of Simeon's passing at the age of 80 on the morning of Friday, February 10, 2023, at Columbia Forest Long Term Care in Waterloo, where he lived for the past year. Simeon bravely faced health challenges after his cancer diagnosis several years ago. His passing was due to cardiac arrest caused by a heart attack with cancer being a contributing factor. Much loved son of the late Simeon W. and the late Mary Ann (Roth) Jantzi. Brother of Ruth Leis, Louise and her husband Ralph Gingerich, Bill Jantzi, Maryann and her husband Ralph Steckley. Predeceased by brothers John (in infancy), Wesley Jantzi and his partner Margo as well as his former wife Gail, Ken Jantzi and his wife Marjorie, brother-in-law Allen Leis and sister-in-law Lucille Jantzi. Simeon was part of a large extended family and will be remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. Born on May 30, 1942 outside of Linwood on the family farm, Simeon continued to live there for many years prior to moving to Waterloo, Wellesley and then spending his final year at Columbia Forest Long Term Care in Waterloo. He was a carpenter by trade, specializing in framing, and enjoyed helping family and friends with small carpentry projects. For many years, he provided support and care to his widowed mother. His faith was strong, and he loved spending time discussing and researching family genealogy. We would like to express our thanks to the team of caregivers at Columbia Forest Long Term Care for their assistance provided to Simeon. A visitation will take place on Sunday, February 19th from 2 to 5 p.m. at Futher-Franklin Funeral Home, 1172 Henry Street, Wellesley. A spring interment will take place at Rushes Cemetery. Pastor Larry Cockshutt officiating. Thank you to Futher-Franklin Funeral Home in Wellesley for their compassionate support during this difficult time.
