    Notes:

    Sarah Williams on One of Mindemoya's oldest and most highly respected citizens, Mrs. Sarah Williamson, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stuart McPhee, at Manitowaning, on Monday, August 17th, 1942, after a lingering illness of one year. Born at Ayr, Ontario, January 9th, 1856, her maiden name was Sarah Lynch and on May 24th, 1875, was married to David Williamson, at Dumfee, Ont. She came to Manitoulin via Collingwood in 1880 and landed at Manitowaning, then up Manitou Lake by sail boat to Lehman's Landing, by wagon to Mindemoya w ere she has resided until her death and was conscious and in possession of all her faculties up to the moment of her passing away . The deceased was known throughout the Island and was the oldest resident of Carnarvon Township. Her good nature and even temperament were often the subject of admiration and favorable comment, ever ready to assist others in the pioneer days, had a heart full of sympathy for all in trouble.

    The funeral was held on Wednesday, from her home at Mindemoya and was conducted by Rev. J. Renshaw and assisted by Rev. W. H. Vincer. A duet was rendered by Rev. and Mrs. Renshaw "Out of the Ivory Palaces" and the hymn "Lead Kindly Light". Words of comfort and condolence were spoken from the text, Matthew 25, 46: "The Righteous unto Life Eternal" , and paid fitting tribute to the courage and patience of a mother and a grandmother and extended a message of hope to the sorrowing family, the casket was covered with flowers, silent tokens of esteem in which the deceased was held . Mr. Howard Smith of Manitowaning acted as manager. The pallbearers were her six sons: James David, Thomas, Andrew, Walter and Peter. Interment was made in Mindemoya Cemetery.

    She leaves to mourn, eight sons and two daughters, one son William predeceased her ten years ago, James of Tehkummah; David, Thomas, Andrew, Walter and Peter of Mindemoya ; Molly, Mrs. J.A. Ward, of Tehkummah; Elizabeth, Mrs. Stuart McPhee, of Manitowaning; 43 grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

Hare, the Tehkummah W.I., Mr. and Mrs . H. King, Mr. and Mrs. R. Fer? ??on, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hodgson, Miss Lyda Hunter, Miss Maguerite Ward, Miss E. Osomick.
