    Walter Hall - The death occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kaufman, Washington, on Thursday of Walter Hall, a well-known resident of that district. Deceased had been ill for some time and death was not unexpected. Mr. Hall was a life-long resident of the Washington district formerly the owner of "Maple Bank Farm" and son of the late Stephen Hall. The funeral was held from the residence of his nephew, Gordon Kaufman, on Saturday afternoon with interment in the Ayr Cemetery Rev. E. A. Hopper of Plattsville had charge of the service, and the pallbearers were as Russell Hall, Perry Hall and Bert Hall of Kitchener, Hugh Hall of Oshawa, David Wilson of Seaforth and Gordon Kaufman. Friends and relatives from Kitchener, Thornhill, Oshawa Seaforth, Woodstock and Ayr were in attendance.

    The funeral took place to the Ayr Cemetery on Thursday afternoon of the late Mrs. A. C. Kaufman of Plattsville, mother of Gordon Kaufman of Ayr. Mrs. Kaufman, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Hall, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stauffer, Plattsville, on Tuesday. Deceased was born and had lived all her life in Blenheim township where she was highly esteemed. She is survived by the following family: Mrs. W. Hall, Mrs. D. Stauffer, Mrs. Vance and Hall, Harry and Gordon. The funeral services were in charge of Rev. Mr. Johnston, and the pallbearers were as follows: G. Hall, J. Hall, W. Hall, I. Hall, M. Vance and K. McKie.

    Miss Elizabeth Wilkinson Passes - There passed away at Laurel Nursing Home, Woodstock, early Monday morning, February 6, Miss Elizabeth (Bessie) Wilkinson after a long illness. A native of Washington, only daughter of William Smith Wilkinson and his wife Margaret Hall, she was born on lot 11, Concession 13, east of the village. Her early years were spent there until, at the death of her father, the family moved to Woodstock. Her higher education was received at Woodstock College, after which she trained for a nurse in a New York hospital, and practiced her profession there. An interesting period of her life was spent as nursing companion to a French lady when they travelled around the world. Retiring in Woodstock, part of these years were spent employed at the office in the Y.W.C. A. Presbyterian by faith, Miss Wilkinson belonged to Knox Church, and while physically able was active in the interests of group work. An only brother, Dr. W. S. Wilkinson, died on the eve of the Dr. Byrd expedition which he was to have accompanied. The funeral was held today (Wed.), from the F. F. Rowell Funeral Home, Woodstock, with temporary entombment in Woodstock Cemetery Mausoleum, followed by burial later in Ayr Cemetery. Mrs. D. E. Stauffer and Gordon Kaufman, of this locality are cousin, of Miss Wilkinson.

    One of Canada's foremost curlers for many years, Perry A. Hall, aged 63 years, of Kitchener passed away in the K-W Hospital on Sunday. He was born in Plattsville. Surviving are a brother, Bert C. Hall of Kitchener, and a sister, Mrs. P. A. McKie.

    STEPHEN H. KAUFMAN

    Brother of Gordon S. Kaufman is Being Buried at Ayr Today (Wednesday)


    Stephen Hall Kaufman of Vancouver, eldest son of the late Albert and Elizabeth Kaufman of Washington, Ont., passed away on Feb. 15th at the age of 58 years. Born Oct. 12, 1886, he attended school at Perry's Corners. He took a business course at the Euler Business College in Kitchener, after which he was employed at the United Empire Bank at Galt and for several years at the Union Bank in Ayr. He then went to Winnipeg, and, owing to ill health, resigned from the head office of the Union Bank there. Mr. Kaufman was unmarried.

    Surviving are three sisters: Mrs. William (Mayme) Hall of Perry's Corners, Mrs. Daniel (Essie) Stauffer of Chesterfield and Mrs. R. S. Vance of Toronto. Also surviving are two brothers, Harry Kaufman of Dewar Lake, Sask., and Gordon on the home farm. The funeral service was held this (Wednesday) morning at 10.45 from the C. P. R. station at Ayr, thence to the cemetery.

    Donald Gordon Hall of Ayr passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 1999 at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. He was in his 81st year. Born in Blenheim Township, he was a son of the late William Hall and Mary Kaufman. Dear brother of Neil of Etobicoke and Elizabeth Gole of RR 1, Tavistock. Survived by his nieces and nephews. Don was an avid hunter and fisherman and was an avid ball player.     Neil Hall of Etobicoke, formerly of New Dundee passed away at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Toronto on January 6, 2005. He was 83.

    A member of Knox United Church, Ayr.

    He was a son of the late William Hall and the former Mary Kaufman.

    Dear brother of Elizabeth Gale of New Hamburg and the late Donald Hall (1999), Neil will be missed by his nephews: John and Antje Gole of Missouri, Donald and Sherrylee Cole of New Hamburg, Grant and Paulette Gole of Cambridge, David and Jennifer Gole of Tavistock; and by great-nieces and nephews, Hope, Aimee, Samuel, Jaime, Shannon, Andrea, Jill and Ryan and by 4 great-great nieces and 2 great-great nephews.

    At Neil's request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Burial of cremated remains in Ayr Cemetery. Mark Jutzi Funeral Home of New Hamburg assisted with arrangements.

    Notes:

    The family of Gord Kaufman sadly announces his death on November 23rd, 2017 in his 89th year. Gord was the beloved husband of Ruth (Robertson) for more than 67 years. He is survived by 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

    Gord was a lifetime educator teaching at schools in Oxford County, Timmins, Brantford, Cobourg, and Guelph. He was a proud social democrat, active in the CCF and the NDP wherever he lived. Gord will be missed by friends and extended family. Together with Ruth, he travelled the world and never passed on an opportunity to take a spin on the dance floor.

    Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Gord's life will be held on Friday, December 8th, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Harcourt United Church, 87 Dean Ave., Guelph. Reception to follow.

    KAUFMAN, Richard Allen Of Perry's Corners, passed away in his 65th year on Sunday May 2, 2010 at the K-W Health Centre of the Grand River Hospital, Kitchener. Survived and deeply missed by wife Wendy (nee Griggs) whom Rick married July 21, 1979. Dear father of Claire and her fiancé Kevin McKenna of Gatineau, QC, and Andrew of Winnipeg. Rick is survived by his brothers Gordon and wife Ruth of Guelph, Douglas and wife Jean of Hanover, brother-in-law Gerry Griggs and wife Cherlyn of Georgina, ON, and will be remembered by many loving family members and friends. Son of the late Gordon and Lena (nee Cress) Kaufman. Rick was a member and past president of the Rotary Club of North Burlington and a member of the New Dundee Board of Trade. He retired in 2002 as a principal after 34 years with the Halton Board of Education. At Rick's request, there will be no funeral but rather a reception to celebrate his life. The event will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 from 1-4 p.m. at the New Dundee Community Centre. Selected readings and shared memories will begin at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Rotary International or the New Dundee Board of Trade (cheques accepted) would be appreciated by the family.
