    SOHRT, Herbert John

    Formerly of 235 Church St. S., Cambridge, on Sunday, Sept. 5 1993, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Isabelle Reid. Dear brother of Helen (Mrs. Robert Nix) of Cambridge. Lovingly remembered by nieces and nephews. Mrs. Patricia Herzog of Waterloo, Mrs. Barbara Pitcher, Miss Wendy Nix, Kenneth Nix, all of Cambridge and John Ekins of Lindsay. Predeceased by his mother and father, Matilda and John Sohrt and one sister, Margaret Ekins. Herbert was born in Cambridge (Preston) and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was retired from Clawsey-Sohrt Manufacturing, a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and a member of the Preston Lawn Bowling Club for 75 years. He was also an avid sports enthusiast. Friends will be received at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, today (Tuesday) from 3-5 and 7-9 p m. The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 8 1993, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Norris Heubner officiating. Interment in Preston Cemetery.

    Of Westminster Dr. S., Cambridge, on Wednesday, May 28, 1997, at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Helen Sohrt, beloved wife of Robert Nix for the past 58 years; dear mother of Pat and her husband Bill Herzog of Waterloo, Wendy Nix, Barb Pitcher, both of Cambridge and Ken and his wife Cathy of Goderich; loving remembered by six grandchildren, Wendy (Mike) Kelly, Jeff Pitcher, Lori Herzog, David Pitcher, Jennifer and Jamie Nix and one great-granddaughter Kristin Helen Kelly. Predeceased by her parents, John and Mathilda Sohrt, one brother, Herb Sohrt and one sister, Margaret Ekins. Mrs. Nix was born in Preston and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a founding member of the Cambridge Association for the Mentally Handicapped, a member of Knox Preston Presbyterian Church, a life member of the Preston Chapter of the I.O.D.E. and an active member since 1942. Helen was an avid bridge player who will be sadly missed by her many dear friends. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, this evening, (Thursday) from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at Knox Preston Presbyterian Church, 132 Argyle St. N., Cambridge, on Saturday, May 31, 1997, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Al Beaton officiating. Interment in Preston Cemetery.
